Mr. Dan McDonnell - Retiree
30 Plus Years of Service
May 2007
May 25, 2007 was a joyous and sad day for Mr. Dan McDonnell. Dan is retiring from the State of Ohio with more than 30 years of service. After being called a “Short-Timer” for a long time his day is finally here.
A cake and punch celebration in his honor was held in the 2nd floor conference room of OMM on Thursday, May 24, 2007. He was accompanied by his wife, daughters, granddaughter and a host of coworkers (soon to be former coworkers) to wish him well.
Mr. Lloyd Welker (Administrator of OMM) presented Dan with a State of Ohio plaque, a 30 year service pin, and a “Let’s Walk Down Memory Lane” photo album. Lloyd thanked Donita Weatherspoon for compiling the photos.
When given the opportunity to speak Dan humorously implied that he never lacks words and that with rumors of a buyout that he planned to stick around for a little while longer. He expressed his appreciation for those who have been with him thru the years. He also encouraged those who are younger and looking forward to retirement. He gave us a brief bio of his years with ODOT beginning in August 1976 and working in the Machine Shop for twenty-nine of those years. Dan mentioned that he would miss the Lab, but that he has been waiting for this day for a long time.
We wish Dan and his family well. He will certainly be missed by all.
